Priorities

I have a heaviness on my heart as I look at the banner above this post that is a rainbow (you can’t see it cos it’s on the writing page). Facebook is full of pictures recoloured by a rainbow effect. Twitter is trending about the SCOTUS decision. It seems like it is the most important news in the world.

Yesterday an unknown number of people were gunned down on a Tunisian beach. At least 38 people were killed.

Yesterday a mosque in Kuwait was blown up. At least 27 people were killed.

Yesterday a factory in France was attacked, a man was beheaded and an attempt to blow up the building was made.

Earlier in the week 2 children were reportedly crucified for not fasting during Ramadan.

Earlier in the week a video showing horrific executions was released.

I am not denying the importance of the Supreme Court decision but seriously – priorities.

The Rainbow is the sign that God will not destroy us by flood. When He sees the atrocities and suffering that I too often ignore I am so thankful for the Rainbow and for the Blood of Jesus that provides forgiveness and hope. It has been hijacked but it belongs to God. It is always unwise to take things that are His and abuse them because He is not mocked but He is merciful and gracious and He loves. He loves every person no matter who they are or what they do. We need to do the same.

Read the whole chapter. There is no-one perfect and able to judge except Him. Every one of us has sinned and fallen short of the standard, we all need Jesus. Be thankful you have been saved.  Love those who are saved, but also those who have not – that God’s Grace might touch them too because God does not wish one single person to be lost no matter what they have done. Murderer, fornicator, liar, thief, adulterer He died for us all and His standards for judging who has done what are a lot stricter than mine.

So let us love Him and love each other and leave the hard task of convincing of sin to the Holy Spirit. Let’s pray for those who offend and hurt and persecute and kill us. Let’s tell them and show them that God loves them, that He sent His son to die for them so they can have new life.

Let’s show them by the way we live that that New Life is full of Joy, Peace and Love.

On a last note, washer arrived safely and as expected all went smoothly. Lesson to not worry reinforced 🙂

  1. Beautifully said. We must lean on Him for the strength to love as we ought. Only His perfect love can save and transform a broken life.
